eventually
i gotta keep up with this damn thing. i’m mainly using it to keep up with old friends and their blogs but i wanna start writing music reviews again. i miss writing for Splendid Magazine, but grateful for the other musicians/music writers i met through that zine.
I could never get the hang of the capital “Z” or “G.” Are you sad to see it go?

Remember parasite-infected zombie ants? More than one species of disgusting parasite can play that game. This one does Ophiocordyceps unilateralis one better. While that parasite kills its host, the flatworm The Oatmeal affectionally dubs “Captain Higgins” doesn’t: instead, it controls the host to ensure it’ll eventually be eaten by a sheep or a cow, because this parasite lives inside three different hosts through its lifecycle: first a grazing animal, which excretes it; then a snail, which eats the poop; then, finally, an ant, which it pilots to a blade of grass, where it will hopefully be eaten by a grazing animal, where the parasite will reproduce. In order to perpetuate his own awesomeness.
Here’s the other cover I’ve been meaning to do. “Sorrow” by The National. A band that gets better & better with each record. Two versions, a more stripped-down version, and a more shoegazy-produced version:

“Sorrow (acoustic)” - G.O.A.T
“Sorrow (the national)” - G.O.A.TOk. That’s it for awhile again :)

Jim is insane, and his little movies from high school should be locked in the looney bin. I mean that as a complement :-)
